At this very moment, about a dozen Team Post-Prison folks are stuck in a Terminus train car trying to find their way out. We’ll see the results in The Walking Dead Season 5, which is now filming and will premiere in October.

How will they get free, and how long will it take? Showrunner Scott Gimple likes to talk in half-seasons, and he said the first eight episodes of Season 5 would be more action-heavy than the previous eight eps, and they’d feature big twists. They haven’t said how long we’ll be at Terminus, but S5 is meant to feature several locations, and a few new characters.

Gareth actor Andrew J. West was also bumped-up to series regular, which could be a hint to him sticking around for a long time, or maybe just half the season, with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company getting free and hitting the road in the second half (and possibly running into Beth)?

The first step is for Rick’s group to get out of Terminus, probably with the help of that weapons stash just outside the fence. (Rick buried it there “just in case.”) SpoilerTV has been posting user-submitted polls and a recent one asked, "We know eventually Rick and company will free themselves from the railcar but how will they do it?"

Here are the options, which presume there are cannibals at Terminus, even though it’s never been confirmed that they are adapting The Hunters storyline at this point:

• They'll attack the citizens of Terminus when they come to feed them their powdered milk.

• They'll break out of the railcar after finding a weak spot in its manufacturing.

• Having saw the whole thing unfold Carol and Tyreese will sneak into Terminus and free their people.

• On their way to the slaughter house they'll attack the citizens of Terminus and escape.

• A random citizen from Terminus will have a guilty conscience and will help Rick and company escape.

• They won't escape the railcar and they'll end up as dinner.

Or just “Other.” So far, the most votes are for Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Tyreese (Chad Coleman) freeing everyone, with second place going to a random citizen helping them out, and third being an attack on the way to slaughter.

Some fans have also explained their theories, with one writing, “I think it will be a combination of them escaping the car on their own and Carol and Tyreese, having seen the whole thing, helping them attack Terminus. Maybe they'll uncover the guns Rick hid and slip them to the escaped railcar residents, who will then slaughter most of the Terminus people.”

Another fan countered, “Judith, Carol and Tyreese are surely not going to be a rescue team. After having escaped Rick will probably find out that they are at Terminus. Tyreese and Carol are going to end like Dale in the Comics.” Well, let’s hope not!

You can add your vote here, or just explain your thoughts below.

After Rick’s “they’re screwing with the wrong people!” line, we’re guessing he’ll be instrumental in freeing the group. If it were easy, Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and company would’ve already gotten themselves free. They are hardly delicate flowers. Maybe they trick the Termites somehow, or make a compelling argument to an impressionable follower, or team up with new people who end up in the train car, or Rick invokes the right of parlay with Gareth and they have a talk that leads to an opportunity.

How do you think they’ll get free — and do you think it will happen in the first four episodes, the first eight episodes, or in the second half?
