Stuff is already blowing up on The Walking Dead Season 5, which just started filming last week in Atlanta.

Fans have been sharing updates from the set, just pieces of what they can glean from filming. Apparently there were screams that sounded like “torture,” plus gunfire and walkers. Over the weekend, more updates were shared on The Spoiling Dead Fans.

On Sunday, they posted, “More filming tomorrow at Terminus! According to member Molena, letters were sent out to locals warning them of ‘explosions’ during filming tomorrow. Much like Thursdays explosions. Likely the tanks we posted yesterday.” Earlier on Monday, May 12, they added, “Filming at Terminus today! Walkers, explosions & Termites oh my.....”

We’ve been curious about how they will use walkers this season — does the noise draw them out to Terminus, or are they part of a flashback origin story? — but let’s table that for a minute and consider the intel from this post, also shared over the weekend:

“With last weeks filming at Terminus, Norman aka Daryl was seen with a ‘black right eye’ and cuts on his face. Melissa aka Carol was also seen filming. Standing outside of the fences looking down at Terminus. Pictures were restricted at that time. We do have a picture showing Daryl's black eye. We will post once we get the ok."

That is probably not a new black eye for Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), it may just be the same one he had on the Season 4 finale. If true, it would be more confirmation that there is no time jump. We’re picking things up right where we left them at Terminus.

Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), though. Last we saw her, she, Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and baby Judith were on their way to Terminus. This would suggest that Carol does indeed get there, if she’s standing outside the fence looking down. Will she somehow find Rick’s stash of weapons, or would that be a little too convenient? Is she just scoping the place out, while Ty watches Judith? That might make sense, but what will she do after that?

Back to the explosions. Unless they are telling the story backward, it feels like it would be too soon for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company to make a big stand at Terminus. They just got there and they should still be filming the first episode. When our group ran through Terminus we saw evidence of destruction, so maybe the explosions are part of the origin story that tells us how the Termites became as they are, and why they created that memorial room with candles and “Never Again…” on the walls.

This is all getting pretty exciting already! Even if somebody’s papa hadn’t just said the first two episodes would blow our pants off, we’d guess that anyway.

Do you have theories, based on the spoiler hints so far?
