The Walking Dead Season 5 cast officially began shooting earlier this month — on May 5 — and not even two weeks later they were already finished with the season’s highly-anticipated premiere episode. Last week AMC released the first photo from the installment, which shows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) opening the train car door. One way or another, it looks like our Team Prison survivors will be making a break for it.

On Thursday, May 15, Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) let fans know that the premiere episode was in the can, and showrunner Scott Gimple weighed in with his own thoughts on 5.01 soon after. On May 17 Scott tweeted, “Okay friends, #501, complete. My gratitude competes with my awe for this terrific cast, crew, producers, writers, & staff. We hope you dig.”

We don’t know that much about Season 5, Episode 1 just yet, but Chandler’s dad did promise that the hour would “blow your pants off.” Scott’s tweet clearly indicates that he’s pleased with the season’s first ep, making us just that much more eager to see it.

One interesting thing to note however, is that Emily Kinney (Beth Greene) has been at least largely absent from the show’s Georgia set since shooting began two weeks ago. There were some reports that she was in Senoia earlier in the month, but as Em’s own social media accounts tell us, she’s most recently been in Los Angeles and Dallas while her cast mates are hard at work on Season 5 down south.

Comic book creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman has promised that Emily will be back so our alert level  isn’t super high just yet (maybe she’s pulling a Carol Peletier?) but the longer we go without getting confirmation that she’s on set, the more worried we’ll get.

Are you worried about Emily/Beth? What do you think about Scott’s comments regarding Season 5, Episode 1? Tell us your thoughts below!

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
