You know, there really are a lot of similarities between The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. Both popular TV shows are based on ongoing book series. Both feature "walkers," aka the walking dead. Both have trouble-making siblings, people fighting for power, violent children, and our favorite characters currently locked up.
On May 16, video editor and TWD/GoT fan Keith Eng posted a YouTube video combining the show's credits: He used TWD's theme music and style to create a new opener for Game of Thrones. "I worked on this slowly, little by little whenever I was waiting for other renders to finish or when I had down time waiting for approvals on other projects," he wrote in the video notes.
He's clearly more productive in his downtime than we are, since he created this 35-second video with Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe After Effects CS6 with ELEMENT 3D, and 3D models from turbosquid.com. He also gave special thanks to Neil Benjamin for modeling the golden hand, waving flag, and dragon's egg.
It's like a mini movie. Some commenting fans even like this opening sequence better than what HBO now has for GoT. Keith should now do the opposite — give TWD new opening credits, using the GoT theme and style. He could make little models of Terminus, the prison, and the road to D.C.!
Watch the "new" opening credits below. What do you think?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
