Spoiler alert: There will be walkers on The Walking Dead Season 5. Seriously! Try not to stagger back from shock.

It’s not exactly breaking news, although how walkers are used can certainly influence the plot. But after new cast member/series regular Seth Gilliam posted some walker photos on Instagram — presumably taken on set while filming scenes for Season 5 — he quickly deleted them. Too spoilery, or just too anything for such a secretive set?

Even a quick delete is rarely quick enough for this fan base, so here’s what The Spoiling Dead Fans posted:

The pics don’t give much away (unless the fans who think that's Michonne in the background are correct), but Robert Kirkman recently mentioned how much more secrecy they’ve had on set this season, because any pics that get out could spoil the many cliffhangers. Not only do we have the Terminus plot, there’s also the whereabouts of Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), Tyreese (Chad Coleman), and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), whom some fans suspect might be with Seth’s character, if he’s playing a TV version of Father Gabriel.

A fan recently asked Chandler Riggs to share a photo from set in Carl Grimes clothes, but he said, “sorry we keep getting yelled at cuz norman keeps taking pictures on set lol.” Look out for that bus you just got thrown under, Reedus!

One guy got in trouble recently for tweeting that he landed a role on TWD, even adding a hashtag about the “#cannibaltwist,” and more about being a zombie killer and not dying easily. He had to update that he would not be on the show after all, and producer Gale Anne Hurd said he had made it up, adding her own hashtag, “#fraud.”

So maybe it’s not too surprising that Seth would remove these photos, even if they don’t give much away. It sounds like AMC/the producers want to control everything that gets out there. They haven't been too successful, since fans have been heading to Terminus and the studio in Senoia, GA, but they’ve kept a pretty tight lid on the intel. As Kirkman recently added to Entertainment Weekly, “There’s always people crowding around where we’re filming and trying to get spy spots of what we’re doing and stuff, but for the most part we’ve been able to avoid that.”

What do you think? Have you deduced the direction of the season from the few on-set pics you’ve seen so far? That would be impressive. Do you enjoy this cat-and-mouse game with filming spoilers, or do you wish everyone would just sit back and wait for official information to be shared?

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
