RK also said there was an increased level of secrecy on-set this season, but that doesn’t mean people who live, work, and stalk TWD hang out in the Atlanta and Senoia, GA area don’t get a basic idea of what’s happening.
According to the TWD filming sleuths at The Spoiling Dead Fans, Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Danai Gurira (Michonne) and Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier) were filming in Senoia last night (Thursday, May 22). “Andrew and Danai left around 7/8, Melissa and Norman were the last to leave around 2 am.” Caryl unites?!
The site later added that Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (Bob), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Chad Coleman (Tyreese) and Chandler Riggs (Carl) were also confirmed to be at the filming location last night in Senoia, and some said Lauren Cohan (Maggie) may have been there too. So it sounds like Carol and Tyreese hook up with the Terminus group. Maybe they do end up helping them escape? This is a lot for the first couple of episodes...
Anyway, here’s a very cool update on what was happening last night:
“A big scene was filmed late last night while Melissa and Norman were in senoia. A chase scene was filmed multiple times involving two vehicles. One had a cross in the back window but it was not the same vehicle that took Beth. With leaves spread over the road the car would speed away. Right after, you would hear a gunshot followed by another vehicle chasing after the other. This was filmed multiple times at different angles.”
The chase is on! Who was chasing whom? Just because Melissa and Norman were there at the time doesn’t necessarily mean they were specifically involved and other actors weren’t. Maybe they were all involved or the chase included others. But even just having Norman and company in Senoia suggests an escape from Terminus, since the Terminus set is elsewhere.
They should still be filming Episode 2, or just about done with Ep 2, and Chandler’s dad said the first two eps would blow our pants off. Maybe Gareth (Andrew J. West, who was made a series regular) chases them outside Terminus, when they get free? Can they get back to that car Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos) was driving? Or maybe this is connected to the Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) storyline, even if it’s with different cars?
Pretty exciting stuff, even if we don’t know what it’s about — actually, especially since we don’t know what it’s about! The speculation is half the fun. More filming is happening today (Friday, May 23) in Griffin, Georgia, and may also include Daryl and Rick at the house where fans speculated some stuff for Beth and New Guy Who Has Yet to Be Named.
What’s your guess on the chase scene? Is this all for Ep 2? Do you really think they are already free of Terminus? How are they still gassing up cars about two years into the zombie apocalypse?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
