UPDATE: Here are more details on AMC's "Dead, White, and Blue" Fourth of July weekend marathon, which will include a Season 5 preview special and two cool documentaries!
Every so often we visit AMC’s official The Walking Dead site to check the TV “schedule” page, then ugly cry in disappointment when it reports “No results found for ‘The Walking Dead’ in the next four weeks of schedule information.”
However, that should change pretty soon. TWD Season 4 ended on March 30 and Season 5 won’t premiere until October. But Season 5 is now filming and if they stick with tradition, they’ll start some heavy promotion in July, just before San Diego Comic Con, including another cool Fourth of July marathon, like last year.
On that note, Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick was seen on set yesterday in Griffin, GA, and one fan/set visitor explained what was going on. It’s pretty cool:
"Hey I was there when Chris was in Griffin today,” a gent named Alexander wrote on The Spoiling Dead Fans page. “I know I posted already but let me clarify. Chris was in town to film promos for AMC that will air in July and August. One of them was for a Walking Dead marathon around the 4th of July that AMC will promote as ‘Dead, White and Blue.’ Another one was for a marathon that will air shortly before the season premiere. Then he taped a few miscellaneous ones for random promotions, and taped with a crew member for a Talking Dead episode...Episode 2, we think, because this episode filmed here is / was Episode 502 (Season 5, Episode 02)."
All of that is massive win. Hopefully they stick with that plan — including “Dead White and Blue” for the July 4th marathon theme, because it’s the perfect mix of Independence Day and Halloween gore. Every holiday should have a little Halloween to it, since October is TWD return month.
Nothing is official until AMC sends out specific intel or updates that schedule post, but prepare for some extra special TWD fireworks this Fourth of July. Are you in?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
