We’re fairly certain that the cast of The Walking Dead has already wrapped production on the Season 5 premiere by now and is working on Episode 2 or even Episode 3 of the upcoming season but we still have months to go before we’ll get to see anything.

Season 5 is expected to kick off in October 2014 and though practically nothing has been confirmed about the season opener, we recently learned that special effects guru Greg Nicotero directed the highly-anticipated installment. This little tidbit was revealed in an article from Deadline about Greg’s upcoming pilot, Galyntine, which he will executive produce and direct.

Speaking of Greg’s previous directing experience, Deadline notes he has “helmed seven episodes of the zombie drama, including the Season 4 premiere, and is set to direct four more next season, including the Season 5 opener.”

In addition to directing the Season 4 premiere, Greg also directed last season’s “After” and “Us,” so we’re confident that the Season 5 kick off is in good hands, especial since we expect it to be pretty action-packed with our group of survivors most likely escaping from the Terminus train car they got trapped in at the end of the finale.

Are you psyched to know that Greg directed the Season 5 premiere? Tell us your thoughts below!
