Well, that’s why we want AMC to super-size it to two hours!
“Well, you will eventually see that the premiere episode is by far the biggest episode that we've ever done,” Jolly said. “So, getting it all together to make it come off as good as we want has been a huge task, but it’s going to be amazing.”
It already sounds amazing! The Season 5 premiere also sounds very different from Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) farming with his iPod, which is how we started Season 4. Greg Nicotero helmed the upcoming starter and told AMC, “The first episode of Season 5 that I just finished directing was the most challenging in terms of the scope, the amount of work and the story we told — we literally made an entire movie within nine days. I still don’t know how I survived it. It was a true testament to every person’s ability.”
TWD producer Denise Huth also previewed Ep1 to AMC, saying, “Premieres are exciting because the audience is dying to know what’s happening, especially this year since we ended on a cliffhanger. It’s about answering all those questions that fans have had all summer long, and setting up where we’re going for the rest of the year. Scott Gimple is very good at laying in all these little details in the first few episodes that will pay off during the season.”
A while back, showrunner Scott told Deadline the first half of Season 5 would be “a little more action-heavy, with a lot of big twists.” Action and twists, starting with the biggest episode they’ve ever done. We are so ready for October!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
