Change of plans: If/when a real zombie apocalypse starts, we’re not going to try to find The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) and Danai Gurira (Michonne) and hope their on-screen skills translate into protecting us. Instead, we’re going to track down Brighton Sharbino (Lizzie Samuels) and hope she makes room for us in her hamster ball.
Brighton — who is only 11 but seems more mature than most of the adults on The Walking Dead — talked to TheWalkingDead.com back at Wizard World Minneapolis, revealing what she would use as her weapon of choice if the zombie apocalypse happened tomorrow.
"I have two options,” Brighton answered, after very little hesitation. “Either a 22 semi-automatic, or I have this theory that if I got one of those human-size hamster balls and I could put spikes on it so it doesn't touch the ground, I could roll over zombies" and they'd run into the spikes if they tried to get at her.
The hamster ball idea is awesome — and what a visual it would be to roll through the streets with walkers stuck to the sides of your giant ball. (Use it in the spinoff/companion series, AMC!) But a semi auto?! Guuurrrlll, we don’t even know what one of those looks like, so when the ish hits the fan we’re just going to have to hide behind the 11-year-old with the gun and hope she saves us.
Watch Brighton’s full interview below to hear her talk about how fans still come up to her and say they’re mad at her, presumably for killing Mika (Kyla Kenedy) in Season 4. She didn’t actually kill anyone — but it is a compliment that she convinced everyone she’s crazy!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
