The Walking Dead fans, are you free around 6 p.m. ET today (Friday, June 27)? Vincent M. Ward — who played Oscar, the cool but unfortunately deceased prisoner in TWD Season 3 — has a live Twitter campaign happening tonight to promote his potential casting on this fall’s Dancing With the Stars Season 19.
This was born from an interview Vincent did with Enrique's The Walking Dead Live Podcast. They asked if Vincent, with his dance background, would ever do DWTS. He said he would do it, and thought he might do very well, and added that the DWTS producers had shown interest in casting someone from The Walking Dead. After that, a little campaign was formed and they are gathered today in a specific push to promote the hashtag #VincentMWardDWTSSeason19.
Vincent just shared a cool Dead/DWTS photo to promote the campaign, writing, “Today 6pm EST...Tweet and Retweet...#VincentMWardDWTSSeason19 ..If you don't have Twitter, just tell someone who does...Thank you all.”
He’s taking this very seriously — retweeting lots of dancing support and posting the photo shown above with the note “Guess what videos I'm studying on youtube?? U already know#VincentmwardDTWSSeason19.” Study those Cha-Cha-Cha and Quickstep moves now! He should also start studying up on potential DWTS pro partners.
And while fans are tweeting their support, they should copy the official ABC account for Dancing With the Stars: @DancingABC. They are the actual decision-makers, so if Vincent wants to get on the radar, they should be included. The DWTS fall season doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but it will probably be mid-September, with the cast revealed in late August/early September, as in previous years.
We wish Vincent the best of luck with tonight’s campaign, but fans should keep the support going right up until the cast is announced (and then keep campaigning for next spring’s season). Tweet away, TWD Family!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
