Laurie has been cast as Ann McGinnis, the second in command in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Operations Bureau tactical unit — or “SOB” for short. TVLine had this to say about Laurie’s character: “A former Air Force Officer, McGinnis moved rapidly up the LAPD chain-of-command due to her intense focus on mission-oriented leadership. Impatient with bureaucrats and the City Attorney’s office, her nickname is ‘Annie Oakley.’ While the rank-and-file love her (because she knows firsthand the dangers they face), superiors worry about her heavy reliance on the use of force.”
Big news for fans of The Closer, the Season 3 episode of Major Crimes (Episode 7, to be exact) which will introduce these new characters will also serve as the big return for FBI Agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney) — you know, wife of The Closer herself, Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick).
If this spin-off is fully realized, not only will we be able to see Laurie back in action, but perhaps we’ll finally get to see our favorite investigative know-it-all make her grand return. Wouldn’t Laurie and Kyra make an excellent duo? Of course they would!
Plus, it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Laurie on our TV screen. Andrea bit the dust at the end of Season 3, when she offed herself before she had the chance to fully become a walker. We’ll never forget the chemistry she and Michonne (Danai Gurira) had, as she stayed by her friend until the bitter end.
