UPDATE: Apparently some kind of van stunt is being filmed today (Monday, July 7) with a van going off a bridge. TSDF said Daryl and Carol's stunt doubles are involved, so do they somehow drive off a bridge during a chase/escape scene? The station wagon with the cross, that hit Carol, was also brought to set today.

Original story:

Was Lori driving? She was the worst zombie apocalypse driver ever...

It doesn’t take much to push us down the rabbit hole of The Walking Dead Season 5 speculation, and now our heads are spinning. The Spoiling Dead Fans has been sharing on-set spoilers, as usual, and they mentioned how Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus were filming scenes together this week. Carol and Daryl working together on the streets of Atlanta! It sounded great.

But things took a dark turn on July 3, when TSDF shared a rumor they were tracking:

"Tracking: It's highly likely that a scene was filmed earlier of Carol being hit by a station wagon with a cross on it. Spectators say that after Carol was hit, two individuals dressed as cops came out of the vehicle. After seeing them, Carol faints and is loaded into the vehicle on a cot. The broken window on the car was replaced after the scene was shot. We know MMB arrived back from the scene with what looked like rope burns on her wrists and her stunt double arrived back about an hour later looking 'pretty damn rough.' Could this be related to the vehicle with a cross we reported on about a month ago and the car chase with Norman & Melissa? Pics of the station wagon that struck Carol below prior to filming. How many cars in the ZA are sporting crosses? We'll keep an eye on this and clarify any info as we confirm it. Thanks to Brooke Lee, Kim, Cha and friends for the info. ~Shiny"

If this is true — and don’t forget how the Glenn dying rumor did not seem to pan out — it prompts some interesting questions. Are there multiple cross cars and, if so, are they part of some kind of cult? Religious? From Terminus? Is Gareth part of it and/or the TV version of Father Gabriel Stokes, who may be played by Seth Gilliam? Are they in cahoots? At odds? No idea yet.

In the comic books, Dale (still alive at this point) is abducted by The Hunters (cannibals) and they eat part of his leg, then dump him in front of Gabriel’s church to use as bait to get Rick and company to come out. It’s possible someone already got the Dale treatment this season, or maybe they’ll skip that angle. They always remix things on TV, so nothing is a straight adaptation. What’s up with Carol, though? Was she abducted? Will she be with Beth? Are others being abducted? What is going on?!

This is something we’ll have to keep an eye on, but we certainly hope it doesn’t get worse. Isn’t it enough that these characters lost the farm, then the prison, then kids killed each other, then they got locked up at Terminus? At some point you just want to throw your hands up and say "uncle."

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
