An intriguing little scene from The Walking Dead Season 5 just aired during the summer episode of Talking Dead, right after the “Dead, White and Blue” full-series marathon. Watch the sneak peek — the first clip AMC has shared from the new season — in the video below.
It shows the trio we haven’t seen since Season 4, Episode 14, “The Grove” — Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and baby Judith. They appear to be hiding from a good-sized herd of walkers. We see Carol tell Tyreese “more,” out of context, as if there are more walkers than she expected or something. Then they hide in the woods, just off the train tracks.
At this point, Carol and Ty are presumably on their way to Terminus. That’s where they were going before and there’s no reason to think they somehow intuited that it’s a bad place to hang out and changed course. But what if they bring the herd with them? What if they lead the herd to Terminus and the herd somehow helps Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company to escape the "A" train car? It seems like too much serendipity for Carol and Tyreese to stumble on that stash of weapons Rick buried “just in case,” but if they happen to see bad stuff going down, maybe they can use the walkers to help?
One of AMC’s own recent production videos showed walkers ambling past train cars at Terminus, so we know they do become part of the story, even if we never saw any walkers at Terminus in Season 4. It’s a show set in the zombie apocalypse, so you never want to forget that walkers exist. And the production videos also mentioned how there will be more action and zombies in Season 5.
Watch the video below. Is it safe to assume this clip is from the premiere episode? Do you think Carol and Tyreese will end up leading the herd to Terminus, or are they just hiding and the herd goes by and that’s it?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
