UPDATE: See that line below from showrunner Scott Gimple, about “stuff that we don't tell in the comic sort of in time, we can go back to and tell in different ways”? Some of that stuff might be in the second half of Season 5, when Rick and company get to "Shirewilt Estates,” aka what looks like a remix of the comic books’ Wiltshire Estates. The group got to Wiltshire much earlier in the comic book story, but it was pretty much glossed over in Season 2, with Shane and Andrea briefly visiting. If they’re remixing Wiltshire as Shirewilt, then we could see some versions of those storylines late in Season 5.

Original story:

What comic book remixes have already been filmed in The Walking Dead Season 5?

The TV show is always giving viewers a new take on the books written by Robert Kirkman, and we know more of the same is coming in Season 5, which is now filming in Atlanta.

*Comic book spoilers ahead*

Not too long ago, Danai Gurira (Michonne) mentioned how, in Season 4, Hershel got the death that Tyreese had in the comics, among other remixes. She said they just shot something that did that again.

On that note, last night during the Talking Dead Season 5 Preview special, showrunner Scott Gimple teased not only future remixes of comic book scenes, but revisiting comic scenes they previously skipped in the storyline. "Even the stuff that we don't tell in the comic sort of in time, we can go back to and tell in different ways,” he said. “This season there's a couple of moments from way earlier that we just didn't..."

Aisha Taylor jumped in at that point to talk about “The Grove” — which had Lizzie, Mika, and Carol retell a version of the Ben, Billy, Carl child killer storyline — but what way earlier moments did he mean?

Maybe they'll do a different take on how Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) attempted suicide, which happened right after the prison battle in the books? The creative way Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) died at the prison, before The Governor attack? Or how Judith died at the prison, during the prison attack? Maybe going to see Morgan Jones (Lennie James)? The Morgan trip wouldn’t really qualify as “way earlier” since Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) went back to see him on the road to D.C., not long before the Ben/Billy stuff. Besides, they did their own remix of that back in Season 3, with Michonne instead of Abraham.

We've been expecting a remix of The Hunters/cannibals and maybe Dale's "tainted meat" this season, but you could consider that "in time" with the TV storyline. What “way earlier” comic book story moments might be told in Season 5? Do you have theories? You don’t think they’re going to go for another hand-chop, do you, from the Woodbury era? That would qualify as "way earlier"...

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
