Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) recently said that The Walking Dead Season 5 is “very much a season about hierarchy," with characters trying to figure out where they belong in the group. There are now literally a dozen people in that Terminus train car, including several alpha types. Where does Glenn Rhee fit in?

Chris Hardwick asked Steven Yeun that question during AMC’s “Dead, White & Blue” weekend marathon. Steven said of Glenn, "I think he is his own leader. I think at this point he's found, through some very dire circumstances, what he was looking for, which is Maggie, and that hope revitalizes him to know that he's his own man."

Glenn deserves the honor of being considered his own leader. Remember back in Season 3 when he fought off a Woodbury walker while tied to a chair? Badass. Or how about in Season 4 when he single-handedly fought his way back into the prison after the battle? Badass. He could’ve stayed in the prison and made it his own castle, but he then fought his way out to find Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan). So badass. But Glenn is also someone who has put himself in harm’s way several times for “the group.” Hence Maggie’s original nickname for him: Walker Bait.

Chris asked Steven, if he had to rank Glenn’s priorities, how would he rank "humanity, group, Maggie, and Glenn himself"? Steven answered, "I would say Maggie and the group are together, then humanity, and then Glenn."

Glenn does always put himself last. Maggie and the group are his current humanity, Steven said. "To find her was an affirmation of hope, an affirmation that there's things worth believing in, and I think that was incredibly important, considering Terminus is a little wonky."

Yep, that’s putting it mildly. We know we’re going to get a lot of answers about Terminus right in the first episode of Season 5. In a separate “Dead, White & Blue” interview, Chris asked Steven, on a scale of 1 to 10, how intense or exhilarating will Season 5 be for viewers? Steven answered, "After seeing what I have seen, and not being able to unsee what I have seen, it is going to be a solid 10."

Sounds great! We just hope Glenn stays safe and sound through all of it...

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
