This could be the site of the next two years of filming on The Walking Dead. Maybe even more than two years, since the Alexandria Safe-Zone is still where Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is based in the current TWD comic book series.

So this update from The Spoiling Dead Fans is especially exciting, because it doesn’t just hint to a new location for the second half of Season 5, it could be our new home.

Here’s the post they shared on Wednesday, July 9:

The location is in Senoia, GA, which is also where they filmed Woodbury. So it would imply that they are not leaving Georgia for Washington, D.C. even if they head into the Alexandria, VA storyline from the comics.

Last year, the mid-season finale was taped from early-to-mid August, so if they start filming at this place in September, that would be in the second half of Season 5. Maybe that should suggest that Rick and company are currently on the road to D.C. right now, even if they are filming in what is actually Atlanta. Maybe Atlanta is meant to be Charlotte, Richmond or something? We’ll see.

The Alexandria Safe-Zone is a walled block of streets in Alexandria, VA, first seen by our group in Issue 69. (They meet a recruiter ahead of that, and show the expected amount of skepticism. Expect even more skepticism on TV, after Terminus.) If we see the TV version of the Safe-Zone in Season 5, it may be all we see, but in Season 6 maybe they'll show the Hilltop Colony and The Kingdom. Then we can meet The Saviors and Negan, and all that. Pure speculation, but the pieces are coming together!

Are you excited at the possibility of seeing Alexandria in Season 5? Or do you prefer when “the group” is on the road? Are you disappointed that it sounds like they may not actually go to Virginia/D.C. to film, or did you expect they’d stay in Georgia anyway?

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
