Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) was named the “new sheriff in town” in that flashback at the end of The Walking Dead Season 4, but even a sheriff can use some help now and then. Just ask sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).
Season 5 is now filming, and one lingering mystery is about the whereabouts of Beth. What happened to her after that car with the cross sped away in Season 4, Episode 13, “Alone”?
Emily Kinney has been doing radio interviews to promote her new EP, Expired Love, and of course she was also asked about TWD. It’s tough for her, since there’s so little she can say, but she did share a few Beth tidbits on One with The Power Hour.
At one point, they asked if Emily felt Beth was a strong female lead. “Yeah she’s definitely changed and become that,” Emily said, referencing her character’s growth from Season 2 to Season 4. “I think she’s still in the process of changing and finding out who she is. We’ve definitely gotten to see her grow up into not just a bigger role on the show but grow up in terms of from being a 16 year old to be more of an adult.”
“I don’t know,” Emily said. “I just hope that someone saves me, or she saves herself. I feel like I don’t know how to answer that. I think, like everyone, I’m hoping that Beth gets back with the group and that everything is okay.”
Ah, there’s so much she can’t say. We’re anticipating Beth answers to come pretty quickly in Season 5, and we’re hoping to hear good news. Will Daryl, Maggie and company go searching for Beth? Where would they even begin, unless they happen to find a car with a cross on the back and investigate? It does seem like there may be a few of those cars…
Do you think Beth will save herself, be saved by others, not be saved, or not even need saving after all?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
