After spending the back half of Season 4 apart, the characters of The Walking Dead are reunited for Season 5 and hopefully they’ll be able to find strength in numbers. Sure, they were stuck in that Terminus train car last time we checked and the teaser trailer for Season 5 shows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.), and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) bound and gagged at the mercy of Gareth and other Termites, but as the rest of the trailer proves, that’s only temporary.

We’re not saying that Rick’s crew and the Terminus folks co-exist peacefully, but there is a sense that they might come together for the common goal of getting to Washington, D.C. to find a cure, whether they want to work together or not. “You don’t have a choice, all of you,” Gareth says ominously. “You join us and we go to Washington and cure this thing.”

“When we get to Washington, we will make the dead die,” Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz)

declares. “And the living will have this world again.”

Yet Rick and the others would be naive to trust another group after all they’ve been through. Later in the trailer, Rick tells Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), “No matter what anyone says, no matter what you think, you are not safe.”

At The Walking Dead SDCC panel, Steven clued us in on what our core group’s mindset is now after the death and destruction they bore witness to in Season 4. “I think everyone in this apocalypse has gotten their potential completely unlocked," he noted. Speaking of Glenn specifically he continued, "Now, he has love, he has friendship, he has family. He has things to protect." Steven also explained that he thinks Glenn is carrying on the legacy of the characters who have passed.

Do you think our core group will head to D.C. in Season 5, or is something else in store for them? Vote below!

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
