Well, Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) did want to move Spaghetti Tuesdays to Wednesdays, so maybe that’s why Scott was seen on the The Walking Dead Season 5’s Georgia set on Wednesday, August 6.

The Spoiling Dead Fans shared this scoop last night: “Multiple confirmations of Scott Wilson aka Hershel being on set today! Now why would he be there..........death anyone?"

Death, or another Hershel flashback? Or a hallucination/vision like an Obi-Wan Kenobi visit, or how Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) saw Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Shane (Jon Bernthal)? Or was he just visiting, as some cast members do?

They should be filming Season 5, Episode 8, aka the midseason finale — which is traditionally a big, dramatic episode — and spoilers suggest they’ve been spending a lot of time at the hospital location. Episode 8 is when Scott’s character was killed last year, so maybe he returned to the set for Hershel’s death anniversary. Or maybe they did kill a major character and he came back for a big goodbye, as past cast members have done. (One of his TV daughters — Beth/Emily Kinney, or Maggie/Lauren Cohan?)

Fans are still throwing down their guesses. It may be worth remembering that Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) just posted about a song he was listening to on set, writing, “Bring on the Kleenex.” There was some debate about that tease, whether he was hinting to tears of joy or tragedy. Now we have Scott on set, which could mean any number of things.

It wouldn’t be unheard of for someone to die in the midseason finale, but they do like to change things up, too. Showrunner Scott Gimple has talked about not wanting to fall into a predictable formula, but he’s also said the eight blocks of episodes are like mini seasons. This Episode 8 would be like the end of a season, and finales tend to be filled with action and emotion. That doesn’t necessarily mean death, but … it could.

Do you have a theory about why Scott was on set?

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres Sunday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
