We know that our survivors from The Walking Dead will get out of that Terminus train car somehow (and pretty quickly at that) but we have no idea exactly how they plan to escape and what will be waiting for them on the other side of that door once they’re free, but one thing we know for sure is that whatever happens, the Season 5 opener will most definitely not be a snooze fest.

AMC caught up with TWD’s new stunt coordinator, Monty Simons, and he opened up about what it was like joining the show five seasons in and what we can expect to see come October 12. “I jumped in feet first on the premiere. It’s probably one of the biggest stunt-heavy episodes ever filmed,” he dished. “I didn’t have a whole lot of time to sit around and think about how to properly get into gear. We had to hit this gear immediately.”

Monty may not have had much time to get used to the fast pace of TWD, but we have faith that he’s doing a great job so far and can’t wait to see all the amazing stunts he’s teased for Season 5, Episode 1. Like we said, we’re expecting a Terminus train car breakout, so our expectations are high!

And while stunts can be dangerous, especially on a show like TWD in the Georgia heat, Monty went on to say that he actually has a hard time convincing this dedicated cast not to do their own stunts.

Who does Monty have the hardest time convincing to use a stunt double? That’d be none other than Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes)! “To an extent, we want them to do their own stunts and the audience wants to see their favorite character’s face in the middle of a big, dangerous action scene, but it’s my responsibility to not let them get hurt and have our whole show shut down,” Monty explains. “So, there comes a point where I look each actor in the eye and say, ‘Nope. You’re done in this scene,’ and then I bring in the ugly stunt double to take the beating.”
