We know that Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) is instrumental in getting everyone out of that Terminus train car in The Walking Dead Season 5 premiere — he can be heard shouting “Go!” in the trailer as everyone rushes the door. As can be expected, the situation gets really dicey once everyone finds their way out.

In a new photo of Abraham from Season 5, we see the former Army man crouching behind a turned-over car as chaos ensues in the background. At this point Abraham is clearly out of the train car and behind what we assume is the aftermath of a major brawl, possibly between Abraham and Rick Grimes’s (Andrew Lincoln) group and the Termites. If you look closely you can see a car burning in the background and plenty of debris on the ground.

While it would make sense for Rick, Abraham, and the others to be at odds with the Termites, we have to wonder if there’s some other (or an additional) threat afoot here. In the Comic Con trailer Gareth seems to be working with our crew (once they’re in the church) but would he really do that if they somehow slaughtered everyone he knew in a showdown reminiscent of The Governor’s (David Morrissey) last hurrah? Because it certainly looks like we’re seeing the aftermath of something akin to that here.

Abraham himself looks tired, but not defeated. His arms are dirty and his camo outfit has seen better days, but he doesn’t appear bloody or hurt. If anything, he looks alert as he rests his back against the overturned car. Is he listening for survivors? Walkers? Other enemies? Only time will tell, but hey, at least he’s not as close to the undead as Glenn and Maggie are — we’re really worried about them!

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
