Norman Reedus is more of a soft-spoken squirrel whisperer than a country boy squirrel hunter like Daryl Dixon. But Norman told the L.A. Times he and The Walking Dead fans' (second?) favorite character have some things in common.
"We're both socially awkward. Until I get to know you," Norman said. "I'm still insecure, but when I first started acting, I was really insecure. I glared at a lot of people. I assumed everyone hated me. Somehow that scowl has turned into an acting career. And I kill someone in everything I do, so … ."
Hate is not the first word that comes to mind with Norman, especially since his rabid fan base has exploded and some girls are now literally giving him squirrels in Daryl’s honor. Despite that, Norman said of Mr. Dixon: "I'm really trying to play him with no game whatsoever.” Not working!
On a somewhat related note, things are about to get intense for everyone on The Walking Dead Season 3, including the probably-not-that-happy reunion of Daryl and his brother Merle (Michael Rooker). Norman told the L.A. Times the Woodbury/Prison group clash and continuing mental collapse of poor Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will lead to "a lot of drama inside the walls — more so than outside the walls. I see what's been shown so far, and I think of where we've gone [in production]; we haven't even started yet. It gets crazy."
Crazy! What’s really crazy is that after this Sunday, December 2’s Episode 8 midseason finale, we have to wait until February for the second half of the season.
