It’s official, The Walking Dead Season 4 officially started filming on Monday, May 6 in Georgia! Plenty of pieces were already in place beforehand, but now all hands are on deck. To celebrate the launch of Season 4, AMC posted a behind-the-scenes look at this season's zombie school.

In late April, Steven Yeun (Glenn) told Wetpaint Entertainment the actors had seen the first script, and he knew the season would be “pretty awesome.” On that note, Norman Reedus (Daryl) — who has been in Georgia for a couple of weeks now — recently tweeted, “Episode one is huge. I promise you’ll freakout. gonna be SO GOOD.”

He then added a photo with executive producer and special FX makeup designer Greg Nicotero, writing, “Ep 1 is gonna RULE.” But while we’re at it, let’s hope all 16 episodes rule.

As the sun now stands, there is no official premiere date for Season 4, but it’s expected to start in October, as usual. We also don’t have an official Season 3 DVD release date yet, but that should be announced soon, and we’re guessing the discs will pop out this summer, maybe August (like Season 2 did last year).

Check out our Season 4 spoilers roundup for casting updates and notes from The Powers That Be on what will happen next. Fingers crossed for a badass season!
