The Walking Dead Season 4 is getting a new loner.

The Wire star Larry Gilliard Jr. is joining the cast and will play Bob Stookey, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bob Stookey is a character from the Walking Dead comic book series. He is a former Army medic and has a dark past.

The character is something of a lone wolf, but he will also have the ability to be charismatic and self-deprecating when he needs to be. In the comics, he's also a fan of hitting the sauce a bit.

It makes sense that the show could use a new character, as numerous lives were lost in Season 3, including Andrea, Lori, T-Dog, and Merle. Whew.

Larry, who is 42, rose to fame playing D'Angelo Barksdale on HBO's The Wire.

He has also appeared in shows like Army Wives and Southland and in films like Gangs of New York.

He won't be the first The Wire alum to join the zombie drama series. Chad Coleman (Tyreese) played Dennis "Cutty" Wise on the gritty crime show.

The Walking Dead's fourth season will premiere this October.

Are you looking forward to meeting Bob on the show?
