Last season, Pretty Little Liars floated the storyline that Ali was pregnant the summer she died. First, we saw Ali telling Cece she was two weeks late in a Cape May flashback. Then, Emily did some Google research and discovered an early pregnancy wouldn’t necessarily have shown up on the autopsy. Spence spilled the beans to Jason, adding the Liars’ theory that Detective Wilden was the baby daddy. Eventually, Mona discredited the theory based on Ali’s journals. Who should we believe?!

“I think Mona told the truth, Ali thought she was pregnant,” PLL writer Joseph Dougherty revealed on Twitter. That would mean Ali was never pregnant — but she genuinely thought she was for a time. For now, we suppose that is going to have to be enough. We can’t think of any reason Ali would have lied in her journals, so, as long as Mona wasn't lying, the evidence is almost as good as if it came from Ali’s mouth (actually, probably better considering the amount of lies that spewed forth from Ali’s gob).
This doesn’t mean the pregnancy storyline won’t come back into play, of course. For instance, maybe Jason acted impulsively on the false information that Wilden had gotten Ali pregnant? This could have dire consequences if Wilden is the one dead in his police car. And we’re not just talking about for Wilden. We hear the police frown at murder, which also spells bad news for Jason. We’d also predict a fairly significant guilt spiral from Spence if she played catalyst in her half-brother’s downfall/the murder of a cop (even if he was a creepster).
