On March 31, Team Blake Shelton country crooners Audra McLaughlin and Megan Ruger belted out a duet to “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. Though they come from different styles Blake chose both Audra and Megan for their strong, distinctive voices and wanted to figure out which he should keep.

After giving both ladies a list of songs from which to select from, Audra and Megan settled on “The Climb”; Megan liked that she could bring her rock into it, while Audra could simultaneously bring her country.

When meeting with their coach Blake, both ladies were told that they could perform tons better. Audra, unfortunately continued to fall out of the pocket, while Megan began to lose a bit of her edge. When mentor Chris Martin (of Coldplay) gave the ladies a few pointers, they were able to work towards making their performance stronger, with Blake comparing it to a duet between Pat Benatar and Trisha Yearwood.

Coach Usher felt that Megan had a bit of a challenge starting out, but succeeded when she hit the bigger notes, while Audra didn’t falter at all. Shakira, on the other hand, thought that Audra was a bit shaky at the beginning, with Megan being more technically sound. However, Shak thought that she connected more with Audra.

Adam Levine said that the battle showed how both ladies were able to step up to the plate, but ultimately gave his vote to Audra. Blake congratulated both ladies for doing their absolute best. When it was time for Blake to select a winner of the battle, he decided to go with Audra.
