Watch Bryan Watt Sing “So Small” in American Idol 2014, Detroit Auditions
We’ve reached the second week of American Idol and if last week's premiere was any indication, we're in for a phenomenal season! The show is already proving to be different from seasons past, as we’ve said goodbye to the judges’ squabbles and hello to Harry Connick, Jr! (Seriously, can that guy can’t get any more adorable? We don’t thinks so.)
Of course, the one thing that hasn’t changed are the numerous rounds of auditions. January 22’s episode finds the judges headed to Detroit in hopes of tracking down the country’s next big superstar.
It’s here where Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. meet 29-year-old Bryan Watt. The judges must have endured some pretty horrible auditions before this, because J.Lo practically begs him to be great. Thankfully, he is. After a few jokes about his name (WHAT?), Bryan delivers an earnest and effortless rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “So Small.”
“You know what was really cool about that?” Harry asks, after J.Lo finishes swooning over Bryan. “It was a confident, patient, easy performance. You’re Superman, aren’t you? I feel like he would save me in duress. He looks like a superhero!”
“That was a really good song choice,” adds Keith. “All I would say is don’t be afraid to show even a little more ache.”
What do you think of Bryan’s performance? Will he make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
