On March 18, Team Adam Levine soul singers Caleb Elder and Delvin Choice belted out a duet to “The Man” by his very own mentor, Aloe Blacc. Arriving at rehearsals, Adam gave the reins over to Aloe, who complimented Caleb on his gravelly sound and Delvin on his amazing tool. Adam jumped in to advise Delvin against using a lot of inflection in a song that’s beautiful for its simplicity.
During their final rehearsals, both Adam and Aloe were disappointed by the fact that Caleb and Delvin had not fully committed the song to memory, and would fall out of pocket. After Adam and Aloe stopped the music to implore a rapping exercise, Caleb and Delvin were able to understand the importance of taking their time and keeping it simple.
On the night of the battle, Caleb and Delvin took the stage in an engaging performance. Blake Shelton noted that it appeared that both guys were having fun, but Caleb had too many mistakes that “left the door open for Delvin to win.”
Usher said that he could see the potential in Caleb, while he could also see the amazing talent that Delvin possessed and complimented them both for having Adam as a coach to rangle them in for a song as tough as “The Man.” Shakira liked most that both guys were having fun, but because of her tendency to gravitate toward deep voices, she’d choose Delvin.
Adam proud that the guys made massive improvements from the beginning. Adam noted that Caleb had a lot of growing to do, while Delvin had to learn how to control what he has. At the end of the battle, Adam chose Delvin as the winner.
