On March 31, Team Adam Levine soul singers Delvin Choice and Josh Kaufman belted out a duet to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” by Stevie Wonder. Adam thought the song choice was perfect for both guys, making Adam pretty upset with himself for pairing two of his strongest contenders.
Mentor Chris Martin thought the guys were battle ready, with the minor suggestion that Josh “bring out the monster” inside and Delvin pull the reins on his monstrous voice a bit. Aside from that, both soul singers impressed Chris and Adam and took the stage with an amazing duet that garnered a four-coach standing ovation.
Coach Blake Shelton thought that Delvin gave some “studly singing,” with Usher calling the battle the performance of the day. Usher called both Delvin and Josh powerful vocalists, noting that Josh definitely came out of his shell. Shakira thought that Delvin was a precise, skilled singer who changed her mind after initially believing that Josh would win the battle.
Adam Levine complimented the singers for making it impossible for him to choose, saying that either way, he would lose a potential winner for The Voice. After much hesitation, Adam was forced to make a choice and he went with Delvin. But that doesn’t mean that Josh was going home. Before Carson Daly could get the words out, Usher came in with his only steal and added Josh to his team.
