Watch: Diddy’s Downton Abbey Season 4 “Sneak Peek” Video!
Update: Sounds likeDiddy’s Funny or Die video has caught the eye of Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
“I loved that, I thought it was fabulous,” Julian told The Telegraph. “I absolutely adored it, but I just couldn’t see how he could have done it.”
Jules is such a fan that he’s actually toyed with the idea of making Puff Daddy’s dreams come true, telling The Telegraph, “I’d never [say] never, though I imagine he’d steal the scene, even if it was a small part.”
Small part or not, we’re sure Diddy’s waiting by the phone.
While the rapper/producer/actor/vodka shiller won't be playing cricket with Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) anytime soon, he did collaborate with the folks over at Funny or Die on a spoof that places him in some memorable scenes with the Crawleys and their hired help. The video, touted as a “sneak peek” at Diddy’s upcoming role in the fourth season, dropped at midnight Pacific Time, just as promised.
As “Lord Wolcott,” Diddy professes his love for basically every female character — except poor, perpetually scorned Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), natch — gives stock tips to Lord Grantham, and tries to settle a dispute between Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton) and the Dowager Countess Violet Grantham (Maggie Smith). Throughout the five minute clip, Diddy continually calls the Grantham's manor "Downtown Abbey," which is a pretty good name for a nightclub, we have to admit.
The artist formerly known as Puff Daddy/P Diddy is also sure to work in a plug for Ciroc Vodka, obviously. We’re pretty sure Diddy is contractually obligated to mention the spirit at least once every five minutes until his dying breath. Overall, we tend to think the parody could have been funnier, but it was a cute attempt.
