Watch Jess Meuse Sing “The Sound of Silence” in American Idol 2014 Top 11 — March 12, 2014

It’s hard to believe that American Idol started almost two months ago, but here we are watching the contestants fight for a spot on the summer tour! On tonight’s episode (March 12), the 11 remainders contenders will show us their true artistry by taking on “Songs From the Cinema.” We’re actually more excited by this theme than we have been in awhile — so much so that we even picked our own choices for them to sing!

Next to take the stage is Jess Meuse, who has a bit to make up for after delivering a lackluster performance last week. She decides to take on “The Sound of Silence” from the classic movie The Graduate, which she reveals she always plays during her gigs back home. The song starts out beautifully as she strums away on the acoustic guitar, but everything changes once the band joins in.

“That seems like the perfect song for you,” says Jennifer. “But I just felt like you never got your groove on. I don’t know if the band was off, but it never got the groove all together. I think you can win. But you have to be comfortable out here. Sometimes it hits and sometimes it’s off, and it’s got to be every single time.”

“The band was off,” adds Harry. “But what I admired about what you did was that you kept your focus. It sounded like the Jessica we heard on the first day. I think you will improve every week.”

Do you think Jess deserves to make it to the Top 10? Sound off in the comments!
