On March 24, Team Adam Levine rocker Josh Murley and indie artists Dawn & Hawkes belted out their rendition of “Stuck in the Middle With You” by Stealers Wheel. Adam gave the singers the show because it’s a song that’s meant for multiple people, and thought it would shy away from the awkwardness of Josh going up against duo. Adam advised Josh to stand out a little bit more, while Dawn & Hawkes needed to work on making the song sound loose and fun and not romantic. At the final rehearsal, Adam thought that all three singers had to work harder on their harmonies, which were off. Mentor Aloe Blacc encouraged Josh to engage more with Dawn & Hawkes because his sound — which sounded great — wasn’t enough.
On the night of the battle, all three guitarists took the stage with the fun and funky song. Coach Blake Shelton thought the performance was solid and completely even. Usher thought that the singers gave a great performance, but waited for their individuality to show up. Usher thought that Josh won the battle. Shakira said that the performance made her feel like she wanted a beer, which Adam noted was his intention.
Adam thanked the three singers for a great performance, that was meant to showcase the three having fun. When it was time to choose a winner, Adam chose Dawn & Hawkes. However, as Josh was on his way out, Shakira pushed her button to steal Josh for her team.
