It’s totally OK to just watch the Super Bowl for the halftime show, right? With big names like Katy Perry tackling the giant stage, that answer is a resounding yes. Heading into the big performance, Katy got sentimental by sharing a photo of her as a little girl and writing: “Today is for this girl. She had the dream, always believed in herself & her worth. Today she is the one smiling.” Needless to say, the 30-year-old didn’t let us down with her outstanding grandstand.

Katy arrived on the field riding a giant metallic tiger singing “Roar” while wearing a flame-embroidered outfit — something only she would do. After singing “Dark Horse” on what appeared to be a giant chessboard, Lenny Kravitz made his grand entrance and sang “I Kissed a Girl” alongside Katy before disappearing. Next up was “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls” amid a beach setting complete with dancers in 60s-inspired swimsuits and dancing sharks. Then came the big moment: Missy Elliott joined Katy to sing a medley of her greatest hits — “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It,” and “Lose Control” — proving she’s still got it. As for the showstopping finale? Katy, of course, took to the sky to sing “Firework.” Overall, it was a stellar performance!

The Prism singer opened up to Billboard about her big Super Bowl performance, saying she was taking notes from greats like Madonna and Beyoncé, but insisted she isn’t on the same level as them and that she’s “f—king human.” (We tend to disagree.) So what was the vibe Katy was going for tonight? “I want the show to be quintessential Katy,” she told the mag. “It’s like the exclamation point on the whole last cycle. This is the cherry on top of everything I’ve already done.”

And with that cherry, Katy’s Super Bowl sundae was uber sweet. Check out her performance here:
