On April 14, Team Shakira singer Kristen Merlin gave a rousing performance of “Two Black Cadillacs” by Carrie Underwood. Kristen picked the song as she thought it had parts that could definitely show off her talent.

During rehearsals, Shakira noted that she was fascinated with the singer’s sound, but advised Kristen against going crazy and showing her hand too early. Stomping across the stage, Kristen got coach Adam Levine’s attention who said she was “really good” before the end of her performance!

When it was time to hear the coaches’ critiques, Adam thought that Kristen showed that she was a serious contender, and told the singer that she was at the “top of her game.”

Blake Shelton told Kristen that she gave her best performance to date and expressed shame for not hitting his button for the singer. Usher gave his hat off to Kristen, calling her one of the strongest voices in the competition that has remained consistent.

Kristen’s coach Shakira said that she was so thrilled, so happy, and proud of her contestant. She acknowledged Kristen’s control and ability to work the stage and told the Massachusetts singer that she was “dead on.”
