American Idol 2014: Watch Kristen O’Connor Sing “Unconditionally” For a Season 13 Wildcard Spot

We’ve made it through audition cities, Hollywood Round, and the all-new Rush Week — now the moment we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! It’s time to learn which of the American Idol Season 13 contestants have earned themselves a place in the finals!

First to be announced are the Top 5 Girls and Top 5 Guys which America voted for after watching hours of performances earlier this week. The lucky ten to take a seat on the stools are (drumroll please!): Malaya Watson, Ben Briley, Emily Piriz, Alex Preston, Jess Meuse, Dexter Roberts, Caleb Johnson, Majesty Rose, MK Nobilette, and Sam Woolf.

But those aren’t the only hopefuls that will go on to sing for America’s vote. The judges have hand-selected five of the remaining 10 contenders to sing for a shot at one of three wildcard spots.

Last to take the stage is 24-year-old Kristen O’Connor, who wowed the judges with her “special tone” earlier this week. Opting to sing “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry, Kristen gets off to a pretty shaky start. Her nerves are undeniable, but she manages to pull it together by the end.

“That was a good performance of that song,” says Keith. “But one of the things that I find is that when you come out and the adrenaline kicks in, everything goes up a little bit and you can actually sing it a little bit higher. You would have found it easier to sing had that song been just a touch higher. You were struggling to keep it where it was.”

Do you think Kristen deserves one of the wildcard spots?
