Watch Malcolm Allen Sing “Comin’ From Where I’m From” in American Idol 2014 Rush Week

Much like the earlier parts of this year of American Idol, Season 13 is full of twists and turns that we’ve never seen before. Replacing Vegas Round is the all-new Rush Week, a highly-emotional, intensive round which promises to narrow down our Top 31 to the remaining 13 who will compete for our votes in the finals.

Not all of the contestants will sing for the country, however. As we saw on last night’s stress-inducing episode (February 18), only 10 of the 15 ladies got to take the stage, while the others were sent home brokenhearted. Tonight it’s the guys’ turn to start biting their nails as they wait to see who will get called to the stage.

Next up is 21-year-old Malcolm Allen, who decides to take on “Comin’ From Where I’m From” by Anthony Hamilton. While Malcolm delivers a solid performance (better than many of the guys we’ve seen so far), the tempo gets away from him in spots.

“You have such a great voice,” says J.Lo. “But I wanted your performance to hit me more. Not just vocally, because your voice is crazy. But when you’re singing about that kind of pain, I’ve got to feel that. You have the talent. But you need to bring the heart and soul into a song like that.”

Will Malcolm make it through to the Top 13? The choice is up to you! Vote by calling 1-855-4-IDOL-08 or text 8 to 83676.
