Watch Maurice Townsend Sing “So High” in American Idol 2014, Detroit Auditions

We’ve reached the second week of American Idol and if last week's premiere was any indication, we're in for a phenomenal season! The show is already proving to be different from seasons past, as we’ve said goodbye to the judges’ squabbles and hello to Harry Connick, Jr! (Seriously, can that guy can’t get any more adorable? We don’t thinks so.)

Of course, the one thing that hasn’t changed are the numerous rounds of auditions. January 22’s episode finds the judges headed to Detroit in hopes of tracking down the country’s next big superstar.

It’s here where Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. meet music minister Maurice Townsend and his adorable family. After killing his rendition of John Legend’s “So High,” Maurice’s four children run in wearing denim jackets, plaid shirts, and fedoras, prompting Harry to call them the “most stylish family he’s ever seen.” Maurice’s sons think their dad’s going be famous, and you know what? They just might be right.

“I just sat back and was enjoying the show,” says Keith, while clapping. “That never happens. I get to just sit back and listen to you sing.”

“That was a really good performance,” adds Harry. (And we all know how hard he is to please!)

What do you think of Maurice’s performance? Will he make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
