Soon enough Desiree Hartsock will bid adieu to her single lady status, as she and Bachelorette beau Chris Siegfried say “I do.”
The couple, whose journey toward romance first aired almost a year ago, hosted their engagement party at DeLille Cellars in Woodinville, Washington on Saturday, February 22. There, they dined, drank, and danced — all without cameras rolling.
Don’t expect the same kind of privacy when the two actually wed, however. Life & Style reports they’re so onboard for a TV wedding, they actually opted for a fall rather than summer date to help with ratings. Oh the sacrifices we make for free events love.
As for this more recent event, Des told People, “It was so much fun. It’s really nice to sit back and be with friends and family and think about why you’re getting married and celebrate that love.”
While that sounds like it could just as easily be accomplished with a good long phone call with Chris Harrison, we get where Des is coming from. “Chris and I both couldn’t stop smiling,” she told the magazine.
That may have had something to do with the menu, which sounds all kinds of amazing. Alongside guests including fellow Bachelor power couple Jason and Molly Mesnick, Des and Chris ate their fill of crab pot pie, mushroom and kale bread pudding, and a dessert bar. Sweets are particularly important to the couple; Des says Chris has a very special request for their reception: a milkshake bar!
Des is in the thick of wedding planning, she tells People, and, not surprisingly, that includes designing a dress — or two!
“I’ve been working with Maggie Sottero on [two dresses]: my ceremony dress and my reception dress,” Des explained. “It’s all sketched out and in the works. Both of them are reflections of my personality.”
Let’s hope that Chris can similarly express his multi-faceted self through sprinkles.
