The Voice coach Christina Aguilera is looking better than ever these days, and it's all thanks to a much-needed break from NBC's hit competition show. Nowadays, Xtina's back in action and even making nice with former arch-nemesis and fellow coach Adam Levine. What gives?
Turns out Christina's hiatus from The Voice during Season 4 wasn't just about getting in tip top shape — the "We Remain" singer realized she needed an internal makeover as well.
"I needed to decompress, wind down the clock and just breathe," she explains in the November issue of Redbook. "I needed to find out who I am outside of that red chair. We did three seasons, and I wanted to disengage and have my life back and be with my son — put my sweatpants on and wipe my makeup off."
Christina explains that she also wanted to spend more time with her 5-year-old son Max, and give him the stable home life she never had growing up. These days, Christina is all about putting her son first.
"If I have to choose between working out and spending time with my son after a hard day, it's not even a question," she says.
Aww, sounds like Xtina has finally figured out "what a girl wants"!
Catch the new and improved Christina on The Voice, airing Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
