UPDATE (4/15/2017 at 2:10 p.m. ET): Actor Tyrese received a lot of backlash for the "sexist" comments he made about women while on BET earlier this week, and it appears the response has gotten to him.

He took to Instagram to explain his statements and apologize.

"My mother taught me better than this," he wrote in the caption of one photo. "Lesson learned in life you will learn that it's not always 'what' you say, it's the 'how' we choose to say it. For the record I'm far from a misogynist, a male chauvinist or flat out mean.

"My intentions were there but my delivery was f—king horrible... And clearly all the way off... And for that I sincerely apologize to all of the ladies."

"This is not just a regular IG post for me," he went on to write. "I want to truly say that I'm sorry, I'm not APOLOGIZING in an effort to be politically correct, I apologize as a man first for the things that I've recently said about choices women have the right to make, for the terms that I've used and the way I've come across."

"This is about a man owning up to his actions, taking responsibility, recognizing how to do better, and actually doing better," he concluded. "Ladies you deserve better."

Original story (4/14/2017 at 1:57 p.m. ET): Outside of his R&B hits, Tyrese doesn’t have the best track record with women.

Sure, he’s easy on the eyes, but is often accused of slut shaming and dictating how a “real” woman is “supposed” to behave.

While he chalks it all up to honesty, Wendy Williams simply couldn’t take his latest rant without responding, calling out the actor for his “preachy” commentary on “sluts, skeezers and hoes.”

During a recent interview with BET.com, The Fate of The Furious star shared his thoughts on what a suitable woman is, saying he respects single women who wait until God sends them the right man.

“Sluts, skeezers, hoes, tramps and overly aggressive promiscuous women, they are never without a man because they don’t have no standards.”

“But when you are single, and you actually love yourself, you know your value and your self worth, you hold out until God sends you what’s yours.”

Wendy clapped back at his theory during her beloved “Hot Topics” segment, calling out the California native for telling women what to do with their own bodies.

“I don’t like a man telling me what to do…You listen to your father, you listen to your husband if he has something smart to say. You might even listen to your boyfriend if you’ve been with him longer than three years, but I’m not listening to you, Tyrese. Are you serious?”

The talk show host even took it a step further by implying the “Sweet Lady” singer is actually into men since he never feels the need to critique his own gender.

“Tyrese, you never say anything bad about men, she says to the camera. “You’re always talking bad about women. He likes men.”
