Were the Judges Right in Sending Dalya Home on ANTM Cycle 16, Episode 5?

Dalya's conversational approach in the CoverGirl video on ANTM Cycle 16, Episode 5 (March 23, 2011) was meant to seem effortless, but actually had the opposite effect. You could see the acting. That was kind of her problem all along. She thought her years of modeling experience (including walking in L.A. fashion week) would be an automatic edge. “I know how to model,” she said. “I proved that.” But again, you could see the modeling.

Jay brought up the same issue Nigel briefly mentioned a couple of weeks back in the couture dress shoot: Dalya’s inclination towards basic, old-school poses. These poses are really fun, and we all have a few pics lying around from our youth (or a couple of weeks ago) doing our best imitation of them. But editorial they are not. Dalya was so desperate to please the judges that she went back to the dawn of modeling for inspiration.

Anyway, this is kind of a bummer because Dalya is really gorgeous and wanted it so badly. When she was standing in the bottom two with Molly’s weave (Molly and Molly’s weave are two separate entities), we couldn’t believe she was about to get the ax. She knew she got in her own way ultimately. Will Mikaela fall prey to this stunning-but-can’t-pose fate, too?

Check out what Dalya had to say about her downfall on the show and about knowing Alexandria pre-ANTM.
