UPDATE: After Cory Monteith’s (Finn) death this summer, Glee decided to re-design the Season 4 DVD cover art to include an image of Finn. However, this change has altered the release date. The DVD will now come out on October 1.
The saying goes that April is the cruelest month, but July is pretty darn cruel, too. It’s been about two months since the last new Glee episode, and we have more than two months to go before the next new one. Luckily, we have some good news that should just (barely) help us to survive this barren Glee-free stretch.
TV Shows on DVD is reporting that — while Fox has not necessarily finalized its release date just yet for Glee Season 4 on DVD — the release has been tentatively scheduled for September 17. Hooray — we can all finally add one more season to our collections!
It would make sense that the new DVD set would be released on September 17, given that Season 5 begins two days later on September 19. That way, Fox can use the DVDs to build excitement for the Season 5 premiere — not that we need any help in getting excited about Season 5, mind you.
And what extras can we expect along with all 22 episodes? Reportedly, the DVD set will include deleted scenes along with such featurettes as "Movin' On Up: Glee in NYC,” "Jarley," "Building New York," "Glee on Film," "The Road to 500," "Blaine's Time Capsule," and "Glee Premiere Party." If only we could watch all of these now.
But while all of these extras sound amazing, let’s face it: The main reason we can’t wait for the DVDs is so we can watch that scene of Blaine doing aerobics in a tank top and teensy green shorts from Season 4, Episode 20: “Lights Out” in slow-motion over and over again. Long story short(s): September 17 can’t arrive soon enough.
