Maybe being a contestant on The Bachelorette pays more than we thought because Chris Siegfried seems to have some financially strange ideas about his future timeline.
The mortgage consultant recently told fans on Desiree Hartsock's blog that he plans to retire at the ripe old age of… 48. Um, we were under the impression rose seekers just got paid in booze and occasional makeout seshes, but what do we know? Chris made the statement in response to a reader’s question, “where do you see yourself in 20 years?”
The 28-year-old wrote that he envisioned himself “retired, living in Seattle overlooking a body of water and watching my kids play sports.” Maybe we too should look into the mortgage biz. Last we heard the housing market was crying itself into a deep coma, but apparently it’s booming Siegsock into early retirement. Or maybe Chris has just decided the aforementioned kids will play sports without shoes, won’t go to college, and will be on a lifelong diet of bread and water.
Des’s answer to the reader’s question was a wee bit more practical. The bridal stylist wrote, “I see myself as a wife and mother of a few kids, designing gowns and painting in my spare time. Also traveling whenever we get the chance.” Maybe Des has agreed to pop out the pups and be the sole breadwinner while Chris waxes poetic about whatever body of water they’re overlooking...
Another option? Perhaps the wordsmith’s book of poems became a NY Times best seller while we weren’t looking. People do love feelings. Or maybe Chris is just really, really bad at math and doesn’t realize that if you add 20 to his current age of 28 the calculator comes back with too early to hang up your money making pants, sir. But if the Sieg is that bad at math, can he be that successful as a mortgage guy? Just sayin.
Whatever the reason for Chris’s assertion that he’ll be a free man before 50, we wish him well in that endeavor. Just because we won’t retire before we’re 108 doesn’t mean he can’t. Awww, look at us being so upbeat and positive and supportive of unrealistic goals! Go us!
What do you think of Chris’s plan to retire early? Cray, or where there’s a will there’s a way?
