Which Game of Thrones Stars Would Make Good Superheroes?
With the news that former Game of Thronesstar Jason Momoa is in talks to join the new Batman-Superman movie, along with Peter Dinklage’s upcoming role as supervillain Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past, we couldn’t help but wonder which other stars of GoT should make the transfer from the fantasy realm to the comic book world. Behold our list. Excelsior!
Kit Harington as Cyclops. As Jon Snow, Kit is used to playing a character who always does the right thing. His sense of honor, do-goodery, and overall boringness make him the perfect candidate to portray the largely emotionless (pre-Avengers vs. X-Men anyway) leader of the X-Men, Cyclops. Or, if you prefer your heroes on a halfshell, he’d also make a great Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Emilia Clarke as Phoenix. Daenerys Targaryen is extremely powerful and loves setting things on fire, like people and cities. So what better character for Emilia to portray than the all-powerful, flame-shooting Phoenix? Plus, like Daenerys, you don’t want to get on Phoenix’s bad side — angry Dany burns cities, Dark Phoenix burns planets.
Jack Gleeson as The Joker. Is there anyone more sadistic than King Joffrey? The only person we can think of is Batman’s greatest foil, The Joker. Jack would actually have to take his evil up a notch to take on the Clown Prince of Crime, but we think he’d be up to the task.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Deadpool. Jaime Lannister loves to crack wise, and so does the Merc’ with a Mouth, Deadpool. Plus, thanks to Deadpool’s mutant healing ability, he could lose a hand and be A-OK, just like the Kingslayer.
Natalie Dormer as The Wasp. Margaery Tyrell is at the forefront of Westeros fashion, so of course Natalie would portray the number one fashionista of the Marvel Universe, Janet van Dyne. The Wasp is also known for using her brains and craftiness to make up for her lack of power... Sound familiar, Margaery?
Rory McCann as The Thing. The Hound is a big brute with a heart of gold (kinda) and horrible disfigurement, making Rory an ideal match for The Thing. Also, we’d really love to hear Rory yell out, “It’s clobberin’ time!” right before walloping Dr. Doom.
Maisie Williams as The Punisher. Frank Castle’s family was murdered by the mob, so he sets out on an epic revenge tour where he kills every criminal he can find. Arya Stark isn’t quite the hardened killer that The Punisher is yet, but give her a skull shirt and a bunch of guns and you’d have a pretty good imitation.
Charles Dance as Lex Luthor. The super rich man plotting a takeover of the world? Yeah, we don’t think there’s any question that Tywin Lannister is the Lex Luthor of Westeros. Too bad the Starks haven’t come up with a Superman to take him on (come on, Bran, you’ve got powers!).
