Whitney Houston Biopic: Bobby Brown to Be Played by Arlen Escarpeta
The Whitney Houston biopic has added another name to its roster of stars! Coming just weeks after we heardAmerica’s Next Top Model alum Yaya DaCosta got the title role, we’ve learned who will play Yaya’s Bobby Brown. Any guesses out there in the audience?
Press pause on the speculation because we’ve got ourselves an answer thanks to Deadline. Actor Arlen Escarpeta will fill Bobby’s parachute pants for the Lifetime movie I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story.
The 33-year-old Arlen hails from Belize and is best known for his roles in Friday the 13th and Final Destination 5 (he played Lawrence and Nathan, respectively). More recently, Arlen’s acting career has picked up steam and not just with the Lifetime gig. He plays character Tim Dawkins in the new Halle Berry-fronted Extant. Check out his acting chops for yourself when his first Extant episode (No. 3 of the series) premieres July 16, 2014.
As for I Will Always Love You, the movie will, as Deadline describes, “chronicle the tumultuous relationship” between Whitney and Bobby “from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity through their courtship and rocky marriage, all during Whitney’s meteoric rise as a singer, actress, and model.” Headed by first-time director Angela Bassett, the film’s expected to premiere next year.
