Who Are the Most Dysfunctional Siblings on \'The Vampire Diaries\'?

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) are at each other’s throat so often on The Vampire Diaries that sibling rivalry is practically another character on the show.

But they’re not the only ones; all the TVD siblings have it pretty bad. Since many of them are immortal, they’ve had lifetime after lifetime after lifetime to bicker and fight, and all the neck-snapping/daggering/murdering really makes their relationships complicated.

We know it’s a tough choice, but who are the most dysfunctional sibs on this show?

Sure, they're Gemini twins, which will probably add a whole lot of drama to their futures, but right now Alaric and Jo's (and Caroline's) twin girls are just two young besties trying to face the world together.

Sometimes that world means helping out the literal devil, but this is Mystic Falls so it's about as drama-free a sibling relationship as we can imagine.

The Donovan/Maxwell family is high drama — a lot of it of the non-supernatural kind.

We didn't get a lot of Matt-Vicki time on screen before baby vampire Vicki was staked and killed by Stefan, but what we did get was a lot of regular old high school dysfunction, with Vicki being a hard-partying delinquent and Matt always trying to be her hero.

Oh and then, of course, Matt went pretty crazy by talking to Vicki's spirit when be became a medium.

As far as Gemini twins go, Liv and Luke were loyal to each other until the bitter end. These two were BFF and truly loved each other, but when one of you has to sacrifice himself to save the other during a twin soul merge, sorry but that's just dysfunctional.

Plus, their whole life was about determining which twin would be stronger to survive the merge. Not healthy.

These two love each other, for sure, but one is a vampire and one is a vampire hunter — can you say dysfunctional? Plus, there's drama because the love of Elena's life, Damon, has literally killed Jeremy.

Here's hoping for some dysfunction-free reunion time when both Nina Dobrev and Steven R. McQueen return to The Vampire Diaries, though we aren't banking on that.

There's enough dysfunction among the Mikaelson siblingsKlaus, Rebekah, Elijah, Kol, Freya, Henrik, and Finn — that it spawned an entire The Vampire Diaries spin-off show, The Originals.

The whole clan is known for their quick tempers, and they've spent their whole existences alternating between loyally having each others' backs and legit trying to kill each other. Klaus has, at one time or another, killed all of his family members save for Finn and Henrik. If that's not family dysfunction, we don't know what is.

The dysfunction between Damon and Stefan is the lifeblood of the entire The Vampire Diaries show. They've been fighting over the same two women for generations, and one or the other is almost always humanity-free and going on a tear. But boy do they love each other, too.

The drama all stems from resentment over Stefan turning Damon into a vampire, which seems like a pretty good reason for a feud.

This sibling rivalry goes back a long, long way. After Seline turned Sybil into a cannibal and the two learned to serve the devil — isn't that enough evidence of sibling dysfunction? — the Siren sisters showed up in Mystic Falls, each pretty darn determined to kill the other.

When one of you repeatedly stabs the other on her wedding day, literally at the altar, killing her and her unborn twins (the latter, unsuccessfully), you get the top spot on the sibling dysfunction list — those are just the rules.

Sure, Jo and Kai were set up for failure as Gemini twins, but that was just over-the-top.
