Why he might be “A”: Jason hasn’t appeared yet in this winter season, although he has been mentioned quite a bit, as Mr. Hastings seems to know a secret about him (or vice versa). But what really makes us suspect Jason after this week is that the close-ups photos of Aria in A’s lair at the end of the episode are just like the ones we saw in Jason’s shed in Season 2. Seems like Jason’s up to something.
Why he might not be “A”: Jason’s been a pretty minor character lately, so it’s hard to imagine that he’s running things. And the fact that he got injured in that elevator mishap makes us think that he’s not exactly on good terms with the “A” team.
Why he might be “A”: Wren seems more and more culpable, as we see his name on that prescription pad. Is he the one writing the prescriptions for Spencer’s pill pusher, Brenda? Also, the fact that so many people seem to have gotten drugged within the past two weeks — Hanna, Shana, maybe Em’s dad — makes us think Wren would have the know-how to execute this.
Why he might not be “A”: Isn’t he still in London with Melissa? And the fact that his name was shown to us in such an obvious way on those pads makes it seem like he wouldn’t actually be Big “A.” However, we still have a sneaking suspicion that he’s somehow connecting with Ezra — and that perhaps he owns the Cabin of Doom.
Why she might be “A”: The fact that Aria says she was taking photos when she gets to the cabin — after we just saw “A” snapping pics — is suspicious. So is Aria part of the “A” team with Aria? Or maybe she’s the evil one whom he’s keeping tabs on?
Why she might not be “A”: We still maintain that Aria turning out to be “A” and ruining her friends’ lives is quite a stretch. Plus, we have a feeling that Aria probably just actually likes photographing covered bridges and going on chickpea runs.
2. Alison DiLaurentis
Why she might be “A”: Ali didn’t seem to be too in control when Shana abandons her and leaves her low on funds. But we do get a major hint about Ali having a twin when Em has to fish that envelope of cash from behind Ali’s poster of twins. So maybe Ali’s twin is the mastermind — and was it Ali’s twin who got that mystery money in the first place?
Why she might not be “A”: Would Big “A” resort to having to take the a bus around town, as we saw Ali take? We sincerely doubt it. And we saw a vulnerability in Ali this week that makes her seem like she just needs a hug.
Why he might be “A”: Uh, did you see the episode? The dude is freaking creepy. Indeed, it appears that he’s single-handedly keeping Radio Shack in business with that ridiculous amount of surveillance equipment he owns, including the stuff in cabin basement’s lair. He keeps getting sketchier throughout the episode, whether he’s tricking Aria to leave for chickpeas or sneaking up behind her at night after watching her sleep. Yep, Ezra is bad news.
Why he might not be “A”: Or… maybe he’s not bad news? We do get the feeling he’s a reporter or investigator who’s keeping tabs on the girls for some kind of big expose or book he’s writing. The fact that his lair is different from the one we see “A” in at the end of the episode — not to mention that he seems to change clothes awfully quickly at one point — suggests that he’s not actually “A,” not to mention that he might have an evil twin. Here’s hoping.
