True Blood Season 6 cast member Arliss Howard may be a fresh face to you, but he’s been kicking around TV and movies for a long, long time. Arliss Howard was born on October 18th, 1954 in Independence, Missouri. Born Leslie Richard Howard, this Missouri boy had an eye for a star on the Hollywood walk of fame since childhood. He attended Truman High school and later, Columbia College, both in his home state of Missouri.
Howard then high-tailed it for L.A. where, as he tells it, he had to get his priorities back in line. “I thought,” said Howard, “ when you came to California and they put you in a movie, you were a movie star. Then I made a movie, and nobody saw it, and I wasn’t a movie star.”
For all his humorous humility, Howard quickly attracted attention in Hollywood in his standout role in the film, Full Metal Jacket, and has been working steadily on stage and screen ever since. Most recently, in a long-term gig on the popular television show, Medium and now as Governor Truman Burrell on True Blood.
Howard is married to the actress Deborah Winger, with whom he has frequently acted on stage on both coasts. He has two children, one from his first marriage and another from his marriage to Winger.
