Is it almost paradise? Not from what we’ve heard, though Ben Scott is certainly taking advantage of the free wet bar in the promos. We can’t blame him, since we’ve heard that conditions weren’t exactly brochure-worthy. Though some of you may not have fallen in love with Benny Boo Boo last year in Round 1, you’ll get another chance to get to know him when he shows up on Bachelor in Paradise on the August 4 premiere.
The single dad from Texas has packed his A-neck tank tops, reevaluated his pastel V-neck collection, and is back for more. Need a refresher course? We’ve got you.
Hometown: Lubbock, Texas
First appeared: Desiree Hartsock’s Season 9, finishing tenth-ish
Other appearances: Just on the Internet
Occupation: Bartender, possibly a bar owning partner of some sort, depending on who you ask, general entrepreneur
Show dating history: He and Season 18 Bachelor premiere-crier Lauren Higginson hung out briefly, but nothing came of it.
Most memorable moment: Ben won at premiere intros when he brought 4-year-old son Brody out of the limo to give Des a flower, thus winning the single dad a First Impression Rose. Ben may have lost the show in time, but Brody won our hearts.
Oh, and Ben goes down in history (alongside Michael Garofola) as being one-third of the most awkward 2-on-1 date ever. In fact, there hasn’t been one on either The Bachelorette or The Bachelor since then, that’s how scarring it was for all of us. Bless the producers who let Michael shame Ben for, uh, not going to church on Easter, and for that time he didn’t call his son. We’re still a little hazy on the logic, considering Michael is an actual for-pay arguer of things (aka a prosecutor).
Likelihood of finding love in Paradise: We honestly had high hopes for him for some reason, buuuuuut that only lasted for a few seconds. Why? Read on.
Bachelor in Paradise spoilers: There’s really only one that matters.
